The Economics Department provides courses to enhance the understanding of the history and operation of modern economies and to prepare students to think more critically about important economic problems. The department offers classes in the two main discipline areas of economics which include microeconomics and macroeconomics. Four different courses are taught and all four satisfy social science distribution requirements in the academic transfer program.
General Business students are required to take Economics 100, 201, or 202. Business Transfer and International Studies students are required to take both Economics 201 and 202. Economics 260 satisfies either social science or humanities distribution. For more information about our courses, distribution requirements, special offerings, and links to some of the faculty who teach the courses, see all the Economics course offerings in the BC Course Catalog.
